Dermal filler treatment is a cosmetic procedure involving the injection of an authorized dermal filler product into selected areas to temporarily improve the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles, contour irregularities, or loss of soft-tissue volume.
Prior to treatment, an individualized assessment is completed to determine whether the procedure is appropriate for the client, taking into consideration the client's health history, treatment goals, anatomy, medications, allergies, previous aesthetic treatments, contraindications, and potential risks.

The specific product, treatment area, technique, and treatment plan are determined based on the client's assessment, the product's approved indications and manufacturer's directions for use, the practitioner's education and competence, and applicable professional requirements.

Expected results vary between individuals and are not guaranteed. Dermal filler injections may cause temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, itching, or other local reactions. More serious complications are possible, including infection, vascular occlusion, tissue injury, scarring, or other adverse outcomes. Rare but serious complications may require urgent medical assessment and treatment.

Before treatment, the practitioner will discuss the anticipated benefits, material risks, alternatives, expected recovery, limitations of treatment, and circumstances requiring urgent medical attention. Treatment will only proceed following appropriate assessment, authorization, and informed consent.

Dermal filler products and injection equipment are used in accordance with applicable Canadian regulatory requirements, manufacturer instructions, infection-prevention and control practices, and the practitioner's professional standards and competence.
