Vitamin and Wellness Injectables

Description

Injectable vitamin or nutrient therapy may be offered following an individualized health assessment and determination that the proposed treatment is appropriate for the client. Depending on the product and clinical circumstances, injectable therapy may include vitamin B12 or other authorized injectable products. The specific product, dose, route, and treatment schedule are determined in accordance with the client's assessment, applicable prescribing/authorization requirements, the product's authorized information, and the practitioner's education and competence. Prior to treatment, the practitioner reviews relevant health history, medications, allergies, contraindications, treatment goals, and other factors relevant to the safe administration of the proposed product. Injectable treatments are not appropriate for every client and are not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent medical conditions unless specifically authorized and provided for an appropriate clinical indication. Benefits, limitations, alternatives, and potential adverse effects are discussed before treatment. Treatment is provided only following appropriate authorization and informed consent. Injectable therapy is administered using appropriate medication-safety, infection-prevention and control, documentation, monitoring, and emergency-response procedures.
